Finally I have been given a Thai nickname!
Most Thais look at me dumbfounded when I say my name is Jono, and that’s even before they try pronouncing it.
Thais are given weird nicknames from birth, like one friend called Ice (mental note: resist the urge to sing, “Ice, Ice, Baby”).
Like with all good initiations you have to wait for it to come to you, so I’m glad it finally has.
The PT girls have decided that my Thai name is Jed. I’m happy to go with that, although they find it funny when spoken and refuse to tell me what it actually means, which all makes me a tad suspicious.
Anyhow, I know a few of you back home are native Thai speakers, so do you think you can help me solve this conundrum?
The only clue I’ve extracted is apparently its short for something.
Jed Clampett maybe?
