An interesting article I read in TIME about the Thai ladyboy phenomenon. If you haven’t been to Thailand, let me tell you that it needs to be seen to be believed. The article might be right that the acceptance of transgender stems from their earliest mythology. Even when I was in the backblocks of Burma [...]

Thought I might publish Dad’s comments in the House recently about the human rights issue in Burma. Go Dad!
Dr FLEGG (Moggill—LNP) (10.01 pm): Today I was thrilled to chair a forum to look at the issue of human rights abuse in Burma, our neighbour within our region. These human rights abuses were highlighted by the recent cyclone [...]

You may have noticed I have stuck pretty rigidly to using the terms Burma and Rangoon when writing. Well, my time in Burma is almost at an end. I have made the bus trek back to Rangoon ahead of my flight out to Bangkok tomorrow.
I was thinking of popping around to Aung San Suu Kyi’s place this afternoon, but some friends advised that I wont even get close.
Its been an amazing time in this [...]

Seeing as the Government stooges here had banned my blog it been a little while since I posted my last update. I’m currently reporting from Mandalay of Kipling and Orwell fame, and with the help of some friendly tech-heads have got easily around the Government filters.
I have got so so much to tell you all [...]

Its 10 minutes until my birthday and I’m sitting alone in Bangkok Airport, and thinking about whether to write on my bloggie or catch a few kips before a 7am flight into Rangoon, Burma.
I will be 26 years old. Here’s a photograph right now to my aging face for prosperity.
For some reason in recent years [...]

Well its all academic now because I now have my flight booking from Bangkok to Rangoon, but in going to Burma one has to make an ethical assessment about whether you should go there at all.
Temples of Bagan
Here are the pros and cons as summarised by Lonely Planet:
Reasons Not to Go:
Aung San Suu Kyi has [...]
